Gratitude

I might have written about this before, I will write about it (again) anyway.

From a very young age we've been taught to say "thank you" whenever someone else offered us something or did something we asked them to do as a way to show gratitude and appreciation, "please & thank you" were the two words that were most important for us to know as we grew up.

When someone does something nice for you no matter how small or simple it is, showing appreciation to that person means a lot to them regardless of what relationship they may have (Father-son, Mother-daughter, friend-friend...etc). It is not necessary to say the words "thank you" but it can also be shown in ways other than words by giving something back or returning the favour even if that person was not expecting anything in return and was just doing it for the sake of helping. It is an extremely amazing feeling when you help someone out and they show genuine appreciation towards what you did!

But....

When you try time and time again to do all that is in your power to get a thank you, when you do everything that you possibly can no matter how big or small to feel appreciated,  when you drain every ounce of energy you have to get everything done when asked to prove yourself, but never got anything of what was mentioned. No thank you's, no appreciation, no nothing.

What now?
Do I keep trying? Do I stop? Do I speak up? It hurts, it really does. When you do ALL that you are capable of and more and still get put down and demotivated, I might not show it but it fucking hurts deep down inside and I can't do anything about it.

Bottom line: APPRECIATING WHAT PEOPLE DO FOR YOU MEANS THE WORLD TO THEM, EVEN IF THEY DO NOT SHOW IT, IT DOES, SO IF YOU DON'T APPRECIATE WHAT'S BEEN DONE FOR YOU, YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

CTRL + N = 2012

2011 was a year that would be best described as a roller-coaster for the majority of us, had its ups and downs but we managed - one way or another - to pull through until the end. Here we are only 3 days through the new year, take this chance to make a change in your life.
Learn from the mistakes you did last year, avoid the negativity, forgive, hold on to what made you smile, open a new page for a fresh start. Don't let what happened last year hold you down. Every new day is a chance from God to start over and live your life.
Take a second, take a deep breath and think about what YOU want to achieve this year, what YOU want to accomplish - not others. Make something out of yourself and seize every chance you get, make every day count, make every moment memorable.
